Locating cultural virtues in diverse countries
This is a side project originating from my PhD project. In 2025, I received a Slovak government scholarship to conduct teacher focus group interviews. This project is a collaboration between me (the University of Birmingham, UK), Professor Andrej Rajsky, and Associate Professor Martin Brestovansky (the University of Trnava, Slovakia). We are currently co-authoring a journal article that utilizes this new data from Slovakia, and we are excited about its clear demonstration of prosociality among Slovakian teachers.
The UK and Taiwan data have been published in the Journal of Character Education. I am open-minded to collaborating with any scholar (ideally a cultural anthropologist) from any country who is also interested in exploring a bottom-up understanding of cultural virtue.
